End of the year!

I thought I would cry like a baby...but I didn't....that is at Emily's end of the year program.  Knowing that she wouldn't be a part of the CCS family next year has saddened me but I think I have become so excited about our new adventure that the little things that I will miss and do happen to be sad about...seem to have become less.  I will miss chapel!  I didn't even partake in the chapel but a couple of times but what those children did at chapel and what that teacher Mrs. Hughes led them in...well I can't recreate at home and I will miss it.  There is something about seeing and hearing 200 students recite the books of the Bible and Names of God in unison and recite The Romans Road to Salvation Verses in sign language that moves me and makes me worship.  I will truly miss this and I am truly sad that Emily will not have this next year.  Sure, we can memorize scripture as a family and I plan to do so and I feel confident that God will bless us and show us new and more incredible things when we follow his will.  I know Emily will miss the friends she made at CCS and I plan to really try to stay in touch with her special ones. She has had two awesome years! Her end of the year report at the parent/teacher conference was great!  She is one of the most well-behaved students and even got an award at the end of the year for never going onYellow or losing a "mark"...she was one of two students that kept this record all year long!  That makes a mommy and daddy proud.  Her class also published a book this year and we have had fun reading all the stories.  They had to take it from a very rough draft all the way to writing it on "publishing" paper to be bound and finally published.  It is a  wonderful keepsake.  Math will be our struggle (it has always been mine) so we will continue to work on Math throughout the summer.  Her tests showed in certain parts that she was reading at an 8th grade reading level which is amazing.  We love our sweet friends and teachers we have met at CCS but Mommy is glad that we all feel at peace about our new adventure and decisions.

Dancing

I love dancing and my daughter loves dancing.  She danced a couple of weeks ago for the Wildwood Ballet Recital and I loved it!  She seems to really enjoy it.  They did a great job and worked so hard.  I love Wildwood Ballet because there doesn't seem to be the pressure like other schools...pressure to be the prettiest, wealthiest, one that does the best...its all about using a gift to worship God.  The teachers really emphasize this and you can see this in the way they teach and the way the girls dance.  We don't have to worry about spray on tans, too much make up, sexy costumes, inappropriate music...its just about worship.  I am so glad that I was introduced to Wildwood ballet when Emily was 3.  I can't believe she has been dancing for 5 years now!  Pictures to follow when I get the professional ones :)

Emily's latest Art Gallery

Emily love art!  She has a shirt that says, "I love art."  She likes to be creative.  She is always finding a way to teach art to her younger brother here at the house.  They had an art gallery showing at school last week where the above pieces were displayed.  I am certainly going to find a way to keep art a part of our day when we homeschool!

A cute little story to finish my blog catch up!

Emily came home and said that her teacher asked the students to write an essay about their favorite cartoon.  Emily said she raised her hand and said to Mrs. Smith that she didn't watch cartoons at her house.  So Mrs. Smith said, well do you watch movies, you could write about your favorite movie...to this Emily replied, "my favorite movies are Mary Poppins and Sound of Music."  YES!!!!  That was a proud mommy moment!  Yay for not watching crappy cartoons!  So after reading my latest blogs you probably think we have gone plum crazy....to this I say...I just painted my fingernails a very deep blue color and I think they look fab, I watch Dancing with the Stars via atenna religiously, I am going boutique shopping with a friend tomorrow, we still eat chick-fil-a, I bought milk from the Circle K yesterday after a long day of work and running errands, we listen to country music in the car and I listen to booty music on my ipod when I run, I'm addicted to diet coke, and I still use zip-loc bags to pack the kids sandwiches in...NOW do I sound like a regular ole American!?!?!
