TEENPACT 2012

For the second year in a row, we participated in TEENPACT leadership school at the State's Capitol.  Again, I was totally and completely amazed at how educational, uplifting, and impactful this event is.  Above is the group that Emily was a part of during the event.  She practiced public speaking with them, did a prayer walk with them, and learned about the branches of government with them.  This is the group on the 22nd floor of the capitol.  The young women on the ends of the group are the leaders....they are so mature and well spoken..you would never know they are 16 and 17 years old.  Talk about top notch....

Praying for the men and women that serve as Representatives.

A skit on how a bill becomes a law.

A little mingling with the other "Senators"

Raising her hand to ask a question of the person in "The Well"

The gentleman giving Emily her certificate of completion is absolutely phenomenal.  He was homeschooled his entire life, he is 20 years old, has traveled all over the United States leading these State TEENPACT conferences, is attending college, doing speeches, meeting politicians, debating, and working in different aspects of Government.  I met his mom and it was really encouraging to talk to her.  I can't say enough about how impressed I am with his character and leadership...and that goes for all of the teens as well that volunteer for the conference.  It says a great deal about first impressions!

It is always nice to see Emily do things that are hard for her but then enjoy them.  She doesn't like to necessarily speak in public, meet new people and then defend her work in front of them.  My goodness, I never would have done something like this.  She works through it though and seems to in the end enjoy herself.  She also learned a lot in the process. I'm very proud of her.
