John Daniel got to participate in his first Snow Day today! Snow Day is something that Celebration Preschool has done since Emily was two. They have an Ice supplier come and unload huge amounts of ice/snow on the hill in the back of the school and then let the kids play in it and slide down the hill on sleds. The kids in all the classes have been studying about winter, snow, weather, snowmen, animals that live in the snow, etc. and then they end the winter unit getting to play in the snow.....or what really is ice. I never understood the difference in real snow (like the fluffy kind) and the ice type of snow until we went to Colorado last year but there is a BIG difference. The kids don't know and they had a ball! John Daniel went down the snow hill at least 9 times with his friend Jack. They were laughing and yelling the whole time. Some years they have had to be bundled up in jackets and gloves and hats....but not this year. We were actually sweating standing in the sun watching them. Some of the kids were in shorts and completely wet! It was fun to watch and see all the happy smiling faces!
