Birthday Happenings

We took the low key approach for J.D.'s birthday and it has been very nice~

Last weekend we took 6 boys to Fun Station for John Daniel's birthday.  We went late on a Sunday night so we got a really good deal.  We let them play games, lazer tag, drive race cars, and play more games.  They all had a blast!  I bought cupcakes and we fed them pizza, fruit, and then desert at the Fun Station...all in all, I think the whole party cost under $50!  Now that is a record for me!

One of the funniest scenes was the lazer tag scene...none of the little boys had ever played before.  The vests were huge on them, they had no clue what to do...the man let them in and said "go!", they walked into the huge, dark room and just stood there in awe.  John said, "guys, we have to shoot each other...there's two teams", so they all picked up their gun and just stood in a clump, shooting each other...John had to help them understand that the point was to run around and hide...it was so funny!

Then this weekend, we are keeping our friends' three kids while mom and dad go on a weekend getaway so we had a sort of built in three day party!  Today we woke up to donuts and John Daniel picked his favorite food for dinner.....Poppy Seed Chicken!  John's job was birthday shopping and he absolutely hit the jack pot on this one....he got J.D. his very first BB Gun complete with a scope!  I have never seen John Daniel look so surprised!  He was sooooooo excited!  I made his requested dinner, we all ate, Pop Pop and Neenaw stopped by and shared cake and ice cream...and of course brought more presents.  He got some nice new clothes, a real army backpack with all kinds of survival gear, a sling shot, and the complete boy scout handbook!  Other family members have been stopping by and sending cards all week...he really has celebrated for an entire week!  Papa and Nanny gave him money to spend on whatever he wants and he told me today after opening his BB Gun that he was going to use it all on more BB's.  He is always so excited and kind when he opens his cards and gifts!  Love that guy!
