Locked IN!!!!

One of the many things we did this weekend was the GA lock-in at our church...at least Emily and I did!  J.D. and Molly stayed with Pop Pop and Neenaw and Emily and 75 of her closest friends stayed up just about ALL night together :)  We invited several little girls that don't go to our church and one of my co-workers' daughters went with us.  They all had a blast!  The theme this year for Wednesday night GA's is the fruit of the spirit so the Lock-In was a recap of what they have been learning....they made three different fruit recipes and got to help cook and taste test, they made fruit cookbooks that were all themed and matched the different parts of the fruit of the spirit, they played games and painted nails.  Our mission project this year is raising money for MANNA food closet....to remind them of how much groceries cost, we played the Price Is Right with common food items like Milk, coffee, cereal, Peanut butter....the girls LOVED LOVED LOVED this game...it was so funny how much they liked it.  The 6 contestants guessed how much money each item was and the crowd went nuts screaming lower and higher...some of the chaperons were Barker Beauties (so wish I had a picture of this), we had the Price Is Right song and all...They also played like they were Publix Bag gals and had to pack a stack of groceries into a paper bag, put the bag into a toddler size grocery cart and run around a cone...like a relay race in big lines.  That too was really really funny!  We discussed ways to help with MANNA and showed them that LOVE is part of the Fruits of the Spirit!  We also made a HUGE MEGA size fruit salad and each fruit represented a part of Galatians 5.  They all received a pillow case with the Fruit of the Spirit printed on it, and a very sweet young girl that works for Coton Colors in Tallahassee came and spent like 5 hours personalizing each of their names on the pillowcases!  Then they all went around and got autographs.  This was a huge hit and they LOVED getting the pillowcases signed...young and older girls signing each others...it was very sweet!  The leaders all did a surprise dance to the song "Fruit Salad" by the wiggles..."Yummy Yummy Yummy!"  It was choreographed and all...it took us a long time to get that together!  Kind of glad I don't have a picture of that one!  About 11 o'clock we turned on Ratatouille on the big screen and all 76 of them climbed in their sleeping bags and were finally quiet...we only had to call one parent over "home sickness".  Some fell right to sleep and others had a harder time....

The leaders I don't think slept at all.  We had about 7 air mattresses piled up in the back of the room and I'm telling you every cough, whimper, snore, teeth grind, bathroom break and the awesome very LOUD giant ice maker in the kitchen....kept us up pretty much the whole time.  They had played a game outside for about 30 minutes and had all received glow necklaces...and when we turned the lights off in the big room, all the necklaces were shining as they slept...it was pretty funny!  We had a great big time.  It was the most girls we have ever had...and by the sound of their squeals all during the night, you could tell!

The sea of pillows and sleeping bags!
