Camp Cooking

John and I love to cook at home and we love to cook while we camp...at least a little. My parents gave us their old dutch ovens. They are cast iron and great for cooking over an open fire. Another thing I love about my husband is that it doesn't matter how difficult something might seem, he is always ready to tackle it. He has tried several recipes in the dutch oven and all have turned out great. We took our "camp kitchen" which was a Sam's Club find about two years ago. We love it because it folds out into this great space for cooking and storing things and has a sink so we can all wash our hands and wash dishes! We have the coleman stove and the fire and that is all we need for some great meals. This time our menu looked something like this.....

Friday dinner: Chicken chili that was made at home and taken to the campground and warmed up.

Saturday Breakfast: Cinnamon rolls done in the dutch oven over the fire, bacon, and strawberries.

Sat lunch: Turkey/bacon sandwiches, chips, and fruit
Sat dinner: Hamburger sliders, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and corn on the cob
Dessert: Homemade peach/blueberry cobbler in the dutch oven

Sun Breakfast: Cereal and bananas

Sun Lunch: ate Seafood in Destin

Sun Dinner: PB and J sandwiches, chips, and fruit

Monday Breakfast: ate in Grayton Beach at the Broken Egg cafe before packing up.
