Compassion Sunday and Nic at Night

Last Sunday was KIDS day at BFBC!  It started out with Compassion Sunday and a great emphasis on "The Least of these" as in Matthew...Our church is part of the C2C Compassion International program that pairs churches, one in a developed country and one in an underdeveloped country...the purpose is to learn from each other and pray for one another.  Our sister church is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  It is called Kore Wongel Baptist Church...Gospel Light!  There is a Compassion International site there with over 200 kids I believe and a school.  Our church, being Southern Baptist, is kind of stepping out of a comfort zone (and a box) in supporting and partnering with a church and doing it through Compassion but I just think it is wonderful.  There were 33 kids that still needed sponsorships at the site and after Compassion Sunday all 33 received sponsors and there is a waiting list!  Now BFBC has over 50 families sponsoring children through Compassion!  John and I got to speak and give our testimony about why our family wanted to participate and sponsor a child through Compassion.  And our kids got to introduce Dibora to the church family as well as other families that have sponsored kids.  One of the national directors of Compassion from CO came and spoke.  I really liked what he had to say about the mission and prayer of Compassion International!  I'm very proud of our church!

The second part of Kids Day at BFBC was the musical Nic at Night presented by the kid's choir.  It was a great presentation of the Gospel and how Nicodemus came to know Jesus.  The kids did an awesome job and love going to choir on Wednesday night!  Overall, the Sabbath was so wonderful (as usual really) and I had a smile on my face all day!
